Summer 2012

In partnership with Help USA, a national supportive housing organization, Project EATS has developed a production farm at that organization's Supportive Employment Center (SEC) on Wards Island. In addition to its vegetable fields, the SEC farm has an 800 square foot high house, composting operations, a young fruit orchard, and berry patches.

Food grown at this site is sold at Project EATS community farm stands, to restaurants, and to Fresh Direct. Sales to restaurants and Fresh Direct allow PE to sell food in low-income and working class neighborhoods at community-appropriate prices. Additionally, food grown at this site is donated to the Culinary Arts Training Program at the SEC and used in its cafeteria to provide quality, fresh produce to the Help USA clients.
