The Frederick Douglass Houses (FDH) farm was launched on June 18, 2012 in partnership with the New York City Housing Authority (NYCHA). Project EATS worked with FDH residents, NYCHA, and other community volunteers to transform this former tennis court into a propagation and production farm site for herbs, flowers, and produce. FDH hosts a weekly PE farm stand on Saturdays from June through November.
In a collaboration with Brooklyn Woods and The New School, PE built a beautiful and functional shed for storing tools and market supplies at FDH. In addition to its utility as a storage space, the shed creates a focal point for the development of the FDH farm into a future social space for community members.
